Our specialized ATM cave tour is adventurous and educational, fun and refreshing. Join our team of specialists on this cave trip as we explore the complexity of ceremonial and ritual functions in caves during the classic period (250AD—900AD) of the Ancient Maya.

On this astounding cave journey we share with you the myths, folklores, ethno-historic material as well as the archeological findings that molded the Pre-history of this Sacred Cave Site. Participants get up-close encounters learning about the evidence left behind that tells part of the story about the ritual life in the underworld.

Duration: Full day
Habitat: Tropical jungle (affected by hurricane Earl 2016), open trail, river crossings, wet cave
Fitness Level: Moderate to strenuous; non-technical climbing will be required to access areas where altars are located.
Dress Code: Shorts, t-shirts, and closed-toe shoes that will all get wet; socks for environmental protection of sensitive areas inside the cave
Equipment Provided: Caving helmet, headlight, life jacket on request
What to Bring: Water, any food necessary for medical reasons or medicine, towel and change of clothes for after the trip. No cameras are allowed beyond the parking lot to the cave site.
Minimum Age: 8 years old; Minimum Height: 40 inches
